We’re excited to announce a special Coffeehouse Cinema event on Wednesday, July 29th featuring actor and producer Jay Ellis as moderator of an evening exploring what it takes to build a sustainable career in today’s film industry.
The event will take place at Re/creation Cafe Event Center, located at 4510 W. Washington Blvd., Los Angeles, CA, in Mid-City Los Angeles.
Doors open at 7:00 PM
Program begins at 8:00 PM
The evening will begin with a screening of a short film directed by Gabriel Ortega, produced through Anti-Gravity Academy, followed by a live conversation moderated by Jay Ellis.
Joining the discussion are:

Together, they’ll discuss breaking into the industry, building creative careers, navigating festivals and development, and creating opportunities through community and collaboration.
Following the panel discussion, we’ll host Coffeehouse Cinema’s signature community-building social hour, giving filmmakers, creatives, and audience members the opportunity to continue the conversation, make new connections, and engage directly with one another in an intimate setting.
This is a different type of Coffeehouse Cinema event than our monthly screening series. When the opportunity arose to partner with Jay Ellis, we jumped at the chance to create a special evening centered around industry conversation, community, and connection. While our monthly events remain focused on showcasing exceptional short films, this event is designed to give our community direct access to the people and conversations shaping today’s film industry.
